What is Kidiso.com?
Kidiso.com is an online tool for parents that care about their children's online safety. Kidiso.com allows parents to provide fun for their children, whilst giving them protection so the children cannot accidentally end up on inappropriate websites.
This website will provides tools, resources and education to help parents be the most efficient protector and guide for their children when they go online.
Is this only for parents?
NO. Kidiso.com works for anyone that want to protect children's online experience. This includes parents, grand-parents, guardians, teachers, social workers, baby-sitters, aunts, uncles. To make it easy in explaining everything about the website we only talk about 'parents' but you know now it can be anyone that takes online protection serious.
Who is it for?
- Parents that want to take responsibility for their children's safety
- Teachers that understand the web is full of distractions
- Children aged 3 to 13 (I will tell you later why not older)
- Website owners with websites that provide good content for children
Why 100% ?
Only websites, online games and videoclips that are deemed 100% child-friendly and safe will be considered to be a part of Kidiso.com.
What is Kidiso NOT?
It is not a parenting replacement system, or a baby sitter. The responsibility of truly protecting our children, lies with the parent. It is not a 'control your child' system either. This is not a typical "social networking" website. Although children will be able to chat with each other, they only do this with friends they, and the parents, already know in real life.
They can "chat" ?!?! Isn't that where the perverts hang out??
The internet has provided an easy hunting ground for perpetrators because they can be anonymous. Let's get one thing very clear: Kidiso Internet provides ZERO anonymity between it's members. Let's face it; children, especially tweeners do love to chat. They chat about things going on in their lives. It's normal, it's healthy and it helps their communication skills. However, the typical chat room is filled with unknown people that say things that cannot be verified. This is where the inherent danger lies. Kidiso provides a chat function between friends that do already know each other. The parents of both children that want to chat, will be notified and their approval will play an important part.
What are Content Packs?
These are pre-sorted lists of sites, videos, and games that have been approved to be safe. They have been categorized into topics and can be added to any child individually according to the parent's wishes. Example: The Content Pack "Children under the age of 6" will only show those kinds of content that is more appropriate for that age range.
These content packs will be contantly under review and development.
Can my website be part of the network?
YES! If you have a website that provides some entertaining or educational materials for children, and you are able to vouch for the 100% child-safe requirements.
How much does this cost?
In money? NOTHING! Raising children costs a lot of money already.
In energy? A click and a free download... again, zilch.
In time? Setting it up takes less than a couple minutes.
How much does it cost to keep my children safe? Nothing, Kidiso is free of charge. However, it does take some of your personal commitment. But since you are reading this, you already understand that. :)
